hey there Antioch family and anyone else
00:03
listening in and you O’Rourke here from
00:05
Antioch Community Church in Northeast
00:07
Minneapolis just wanted to ask a
00:10
question today is there an area in your
00:12
life during this season that God is
00:15
urging you to come to him with an area
00:19
perhaps of sin that he’s revealing in
00:22
your life an area of brokenness that he
00:25
wants you to turn turn to him with and
00:28
bring before him I was reminded of this
00:31
as I was reading recently in psalm 32
00:34
where King David recounts an experience
00:38
where he held his sin within himself
00:42
when he kept his brokenness to himself
00:45
rather than turning to God with it and
00:48
bringing it before God confessing it to
00:51
God and we see in the Bible that sin
00:55
objectively it separates us from our
00:58
Creator from God were separated from God
01:00
by our sin were were under his
01:02
condemnation his wrath because of our
01:04
rebellion but our sin also does
01:08
something within us if we keep it within
01:11
ourselves if we don’t turn to God with
01:15
our brokenness with our sin with our
01:17
pain it rots us from the inside out the
01:22
the gospel the good news of the gospel
01:25
is that God has made a way through
01:27
sending his son Jesus Christ for us to
01:31
through believing in Jesus through faith
01:33
in Jesus and what he’s done on the cross
01:35
and rising from the grave we can be
01:38
freed from our sin we can experience
01:40
forgiveness we can experience true
01:42
cleansing through turning to God but
01:45
listen to psalm 32 as i read this it
01:49
says blessed is the one whose
01:50
transgression is forgiven whose sin is
01:53
covered
01:54
blessed is the one against whom the lord
01:57
counts no iniquity and in whose spirit
02:00
there is no deceit for when I kept
02:03
silent my bones wasted away through my
02:07
groaning all day long for day and night
02:10
your hand was heavy upon me
02:12
my strength was dried up as by the heat
02:15
of summer I acknowledged my sin to you
02:18
and I did not cover my iniquity I said I
02:21
will confess my transgressions to the
02:23
Lord and you forgave the iniquity of my
02:26
sin therefore let everyone who is godly
02:29
offer prayer to you at a time when you
02:33
may be found surely in the rush of Great
02:36
Waters they shall not reach him you are
02:38
a hiding place for me you preserve me
02:40
from trouble you surround me with shouts
02:42
of deliverance I will instruct you and
02:45
teach you in the way you should go I
02:47
will counsel you with my eye upon you be
02:50
not like a horse or a mule without
02:53
understanding which must be curbed with
02:55
bit and bridle or it will stay near to
02:58
you many are the sorrows of the wicked
03:01
but steadfast love surrounds the one who
03:03
trusts in the Lord be glad in the Lord
03:06
and rejoice o righteous and shout for
03:09
joy all you upright in heart so what
03:14
what happens when we keep our sin within
03:17
ourselves when we don’t turn to God when
03:20
brokenness in pain and turmoil is kept
03:24
when with within us either we’re trying
03:27
to hide it or trying to deal with it in
03:30
our own strength or trying to fix it
03:32
somehow or we’re too proud to humble
03:35
ourselves and bring it before God look
03:36
what David says he says my bones wasted
03:40
away there was a wasting there was a
03:43
groaning there was a sorrow within
03:46
himself but when he turned to God when
03:50
he turned his scent turned to God with
03:52
his sins with his brokenness with what
03:55
was going on inside him he experienced
03:58
his forgiveness he experiences a
04:01
covering of his sin a cleansing of his
04:04
sin true joy true freedom being glad in
04:10
the Lord rejoicing shouting for joy
04:12
that’s those are the two options
04:15
available to us we can either keep our
04:18
sin to ourselves and experience the
04:22
sorrow upon sorrow that that leads to
04:26
or we can turn to God with our sin with
04:29
our brokenness with what God might be
04:32
revealing to us in this time in this
04:35
season that he wants us to bring to him
04:38
will you turn to him during this time
04:41
will you pour out what’s going on inside
04:43
you to God he invites you to do that and
04:47
experience a joy and forgiveness and
04:50
cleansing and peace and hope that only
04:53
he can bring through Jesus Christ god
04:57
bless
